• Consider Acoustics – One of the challenges of hosting outdoor concerts & events is making sure everyone can hear the performers on stage. While many outdoor venues, such as stadiums, already have enough audio equipment to ensure the sound carries clearly, other sites, such as fairgrounds, lack the necessary acoustic infrastructure. If you plan to host an outdoor event, make sure to ask about the venue’s audio setup and plan to bring your own speakers and equipment if necessary.
• Consider Sightlines – Similarly, you need to make sure everyone in the audience of your outdoor events & concerts has a clear view of the stage. Many outdoor venues lack stadium seating, which makes it hard for guests in the back to see over the heads of those in front, and many are also so large that few people could get a close look at the performers at all. To deal with this issue, we recommend placing screens or monitors at various points to show simultaneous video feed of the stage.
• Consider Sanitation – This last point has nothing to do with your audio-visual setup, so it’s out of our wheelhouse, but it’s worth bringing up all the same. When hosting outdoor events & concerts, don’t forget about sanitation needs. Make sure you have enough handwashing stations, paper towels, and other sanitization processes in place to keep you guests, performers, crew, and other event staff comfortable.
